WELCOME TO FINIMA

Spread the love

Welcome to Finima, the most ancient community in Bonny Kingdom!

This website is a purposeful output of the Finima Media Bureau, powered by the Buoye Omuso Brown Major House of Finima in Bonny Island to showcase the following;

  • Develop a robust and standard website for Finima that is of global relevance.
  • Create a Facebook group/page FinimaGlobal.
  • Organise community forum for healthy discussions twice a year for the purpose of enlightenment and better educate our people about their identity.

Message from the Desk of Finima Media Bureau {FMB}

Greetings from Finima!

On behalf of all descendants of Finima and most especially members of the FMB, I welcome you to our website. Also, I appreciate your interest in Finima and encourage you to keep it up!

For over three centuries, Finima has played pivotal roles in the life of Nigeria as:

  • A warehouse for early trans-Atlantic European trade
  • A cradle for first Christian Missionaries in Southern Nigeria leading to the establishment of the Anglican Cathedral in Bonny
  • Home of first Oil export terminal in Nigeria by Shell Petroleum Co Ltd
  • Home of the only natural liquefied gas export terminal by NLNG.

However, this ancient town with her peace-loving inhabitants has been unappreciated, unsung, and unacknowledged by the powers that be. Indeed, it is the sacrificial “donkey” that bears the burden while Nigeria keeps reaping the benefits.

The Finima Media Bureau (FMB) is part of ongoing efforts to rectify this unpalatable situation. Finima has suffered in silence, which is misconstrued as acquiescence and complacency in some quarters for far too long. Perhaps the fault is not in our stars and as rightly captured in an African adage,

          “Either you blow your trumpet, or someone will blow it out of tune.”

So, the mission of the FMB is unambiguous and straightforward:

BLOW THE FINIMA TRUMPETS AND LET THE WORLD HEAR THE RIGHT MELODIOUS TUNE.

Therefore, the time has come for Finima to take her rightful place in history and the scheme of things.

It is the break of a new dawn.

The tides are turning.

The great descendants of Finima are making waves, bringing to reality the dreams of our ancestors.

Great trumpeters, fueled by passion, truth, and integrity, are poised, ready to blow the trumpets.

Let the trumpet blow!!!

Let the melodic harmonies of our history, sacrifices, and exploits ride on the back of the wind reaching the highest peaks and the lowest valleys.

Let all eardrums reverberate to the grandiose exploits and sacrifices Finima has and continuously make for Nigeria.

At this juncture, let me express my profound gratitude to the leadership of the Buoye Omuso Brown House (BOBH), the sole and proud sponsors of this project.

Neither your tireless zeal to maintain peace and sustain progress nor your role as trustees of Finima would ever go unrecognized again. Also, I whole-heartedly thank members of the FMB, whose selfless sacrifice and unwavering determination made this website possible. The FMB will forever be appreciated and remembered.

Finally, I encourage and solicit suggestions, contributions, and advertisements to facilitate continuously but required dynamic changes and improvement.

Again, welcome and enjoy your tour.

With best wishes,
